Hello
Thank you for seeing me on wednesday.
The windows that you have at present in your doors are made of a single sheet of glass with lead strips and coloured paper stuck on to simulate stained glass. As the pane is quite long and narrow the manufacturers have used a very thick piece of glass i.e. 5mm.
If I replicated these windows using the traditional leaded method then each panel would be a separate piece of glass with 2 pieces 50mm x 900mm as well as the central panel 208mm x 900mm. These, I believe would be at great risk of breaking due to the door flexing or even being slammed due to wind or whatever. Reinforcing strips can be put into the lead but even so I think the risk is too great. So, for these safety issues I am not willing to make them based on the original design.
I have given below a possible solution which you might like to consider. This design, I am confident would withstand the normal stresses that the door could undergo. Obviously we could put some sort of colour design in each panel if you wanted. The cost of each panel of this design would be £70.00. If any colour or design were added then the cost would alter. Should you wish to proceed then I will get some samples of glass to you.
I look forward to hearing from you. I will return your panel to you as soon as you have decided what you want to do.
